Campaign Highlights January 28-February 18
MILES OF SMILES
Stretching from Vanderburgh to Vermillion County, Indiana's 8th Congressional District is the largest in our state. Thomasina has logged over 16,000 miles on the campaign trail, sharing her message of hope with Hoosiers from every walk of life. On January 30 she attended Indiana House candidate Ian Gamroth's campaign kickoff in Fort Branch and was a guest of the Vanderburgh County Democrats at a dinner event for County Commissioner Ben Shoulders.
On February 6, Thomasina addressed the Dubois County Democrats during their press meeting at St. Benedict's Brew Works in Ferdinand. Read about it here: https://duboiscountyherald.com/b/county-democrats-hold-first-meeting-in-two-years
Her next stop on the 6th was in Chrisney for the Spencer County Democrats monthly meeting, where members shared their enthusiasm and ideas for the 2020 election.
VFW Post 6574 Auxiliary in West Terre Haute welcomed Thomasina at their prime rib Valentine Dinner on February 8.
Thomasina also joined the Perry County Democrats in Tell City on February 10, attended the Warrick County USW Local 104 SOAR meeting in Newburgh on the 13th, and addressed the IBEW dinner meeting in Terre Haute on Valentine's Day.
February's theme of love continued throughout the 8th District on February 15 as volunteers from Vigo to Spencer Counties participated in the first "For the Love of Education" phone bank hosted by Hope in 8. Designed to inform education professionals about other educators running for office in the Great 8th, the event was a resounding success. Even several Republican retired teachers stopped by to help! Over the state, 3500 educators were reached because of our grassroots organization. Thomasina sends a big "Thank You" to all the volunteers. There are more phone banks to come and plenty of work to be had. See details and upcoming dates below.
February 17 was another great day for education during the ICPE Rally to Support Public Education at the State House in Indianapolis. Thomasina enjoyed meeting with fellow educators and leaders running for office in Indiana, including Maria Candelaria Reardon, the first Latina elected to the General Assembly.
On February 18, Thomasina attended a public education forum hosted by the Dubois County Democrats in Jasper, as well as a speaking engagement with the Sullivan County Democrats.
